Price - How much does it cost for one piece of commission watercolour painting?
>> As you may see on the other page, one piece of A4 painting of a solo bottle is around 160 - 250 SGD, excluding shipping. If you prefer to add another subject (e.g. a glass), the cost will be depended on its complexity. (You can message or email me to know more.)
Reference Photo - Whether you need to provide me with a reference photo for the painting?
>> If the reference photo of the bottle can be easily found online, you will not need to provide any photo as a reference. However, if the bottle is extremely rare, then I may need your help to provide a few clear photos of the bottle as a reference.
Shipping Cost - Is there any method to get a lower shipping cost?
>> Sorry, there is no other method to lower the shipping cost at this moment. The shipping cost will be around 35-60 SGD. However, if the order includes 3 or more pieces, I am happy to absorb the shipping cost in one shipment.
Turnaround - How long do I need to complete one painting?
>> Although I have finished my road trip in China and returned to Tokyo to start my new job, I may still need some lead time to complete the paintings, around 3 weeks+. If you need the painting urgently, please let me know as well, I will do my best to arrange my time.
* Note - Due to the COVID situation, international shipping is all delayed significantly; it takes 2 to 3 weeks to arrive most of the world. Please consider this if you need the painting urgently.
Paper Size - #1 What kind of paper size do I use to paint?
>> Normally I use A4 size (21cm x 29.7cm).
Paper Size - #2 Can I use larger paper to paint?
>> Short answer is “YES”. I also have A3 size (29.7cm x 42cm) or A2 size (42cm x 59.4cm), max will be A1, but the cost will be quite different, especially the shipping cost. Since I will have to use a mailing tube, which is not a standardized size for mailing.
* Note - Actually, when an A4 size painting got framed, the size is around 30cm x 40cm (or even larger) because there will be some margin between the painting and the frame. So please put this into your consideration. (Please see some examples below, photos by the customers.)
Paper Type - What kind of paper do I use?
>> I use 300g watercolor pager to paint. “Cold press watercolor paper” is used for regular watercolor painting (rough surface), and “hot press watercolor paper” is used for fineliner sketching (smooth surface). [To know more about cold or hot press paper please refer to this website.]
Frames - Do I provide framed painting?
>> I am happy to help finding frames, but the frame will be very heavy for international shipping. So I do not recommend to include the frame in the shipment. It will be more economic for you to purchase the frames locally.
Painting Style - Can I choose the style of the painting?
>> At this moment, I can do typical watercolor painting or fineliner sketching. You can let me know which style do you like when you message/email me. Please see the comparison in below, first one is watercolor, the second one is fineliner sketching.
Bottles - Can I order other liquor other than whisky?
>> Definitely, you can let me know which bottle you like in the message/email.
Watercolor - What kind of watercolor do you use? Can it last for decades without fading out the color?
>> I use the Professional Watercolor Set from Winsor & Newton to do all the paintings. You can also refer to this link for the product. And according to Winsor & Newton’s website, their professional watercolor will last for lifetime (link).
